Agents and brokers must enter SSNs for all consumers who have them. Agents or brokers who fail to collect SSNs from their consumers who have them may be subject to compliance actions for failing to provide accurate information to the Marketplace.
To emphasize the importance of collecting SSNs from your consumers, additional information is added to the EDE enrollment flow. “[Consumer’s Name] doesn’t have an SSN. You may only check this box if [Consumer’s Name] confirms that they have never been issued an SSN by the Social Security Administration.”
If you try to proceed without SSN the below warning will be displayed.
The available options to select are “Enter SSN now” and “[Consumer Name] doesn’t have an SSN, because they have never been issued an SSN by the Social Security Administration.”
If you have chosen “Enter SSN now”, you will see the same page to enter the SSN of the consumer.
If the chosen “[Consumer Name] doesn’t have an SSN, because they have never been issued one by the Social Security Administration.” and click on the Continue button, the page will be navigated to the next page.
A warning message will be displayed when you try to enter an incorrect SSN.
The same process will continue for all the consumers in the application.
